I just completed reading chapter four in "Smith and Hogan - Criminal Law" by Ormerod.  I took 20+ pages of handwritten notes. and it took me virtually all of my study sessions this week. I have to pick up a better pace and synthesize the information much better. The issues surrounding "Causation" an the breaking of the Chain of causation, were very interesting.
